BUILDING RESILIENCE AMONG AFRICAN YOUTH
Smart Talk Cafe is a youth-led association that focuses on empowering the African young population for sustainable development through training, capacity building, and the formulation of projects and programs that help in building the skills and competencies of youth. We also focus on advocacy and research on organized crime in Africa. This is to equip them so they can form solutions to their economic, environmental, and communal challenges.
This is through the SDGs and Africa’s Agenda 2063
The Africa for Sustainable Development Fellowship Program seeks to equip 30 youth and women in Africa per year. It aims to develop the skills of young people in entrepreneurship, sustainable community projects, design thinking, the circular economy, and startup development.
Looking into the circular economy and food systems, especially in urban settings.
Supporting circular economy projects that focus on improving health, waste management, housing and energy in developing cities
The research will look into the policy gaps, especially when it comes to awareness and its implementation in East Africa. The key is to understand the prevalence estimation in regards to those affected, namely the survivors, their families, and secondary duty berries. We will also look into the connection between the implementation of the existing policies and service provision in East Africa.
The program aims to create a paradigm shift in the way the world thinks about peace. This is accomplished by developing global and national indices, calculating the economic cost of violence, analysing state fragility, applying the framework of positive peace, and understanding trends in global peace and conflict.
The human, environmental, and economic costs of global warming are becoming increasingly clear, as is the need for action. From catastrophic flooding to hurricanes, droughts, and fires, the impacts of climate change are no longer a concern of the future but rather a present reality we must address today.
Rwanda's fight against human trafficking is one of our most important initiatives under Smart Talk Cafe'. Mr. Morris Andati, our chief executive officer, discusses the project's emphasis areas and how we plan to collaborate with important Rwandan players. Under the resilience fund, the project is in cooperation with the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime.
We have two great architects and entrepreneurs from South Africa who work with bamboo in community adversity. They are the directors of a company called Renewable Houses South Africa that focuses on working with bamboo. They are learning more about how bamboo can be used in many different ways in South Africa. We talked about the different kinds of plants that grow in South Africa, as well as the most important things that need to be done to develop bamboo. Join us as we have a candid discussion, and we hope you can learn so much from them.
There are a lot of connections between the SDGs and organized crime, and looking at goals like: SDG 1: No poverty SDG 16 on Peace Justice and String Institutions SDG 17 in partnerships There is a lot that experts from the two camps can do to come together to solve this key problem. Join us as we look for solutions and synergy points between these two groups.
Is political correctness an enemy of free speech, open debate, and the free exchange of ideas? Or, by confronting head-on the dominant power relationships and social norms that exclude marginalized groups, are we creating a more equitable and just society? For some, the argument is clear. Political correctness is stifling the free and open debate that fuels our democracy. It is also needlessly dividing one group from another and promoting social conflict. Others insist that creating public spaces and norms that give voice to previously marginalized groups broadens the scope of free speech. The drive towards inclusion over exclusion is essential to creating healthy, diverse societies in an era of rapid social change. In this episode, our host is joined by Mr. Desmond Ogubi, the Regional Programs Director at Wibena Impact and Co-Founder. Programs Manager at Anika Initiative
